The High Commission of India Organised Panel Discussion & Interactive Session with the Editors on “The Modi Doctrine” at India House, London

The London release of the ‘The Modi Doctrine: New Paradigms in India’s Foreign Policy’ saw a packed house at the Indian High Commission in London where it was officially launched by the Act. High Commissioner HE Dinesh K. Patnaik. The book is a collection of essays by experts on foreign policy focusing on PM Shri Narendra Modi’s outlook on foreign policy. While talking about the book, the High Commissioner said that PM Modi has changed the way India engages with the world and that “PM Modi is the best ambassador India has”. The High Commissioner also said that books like this also act as ‘report card’ for the government and Ministry of External Affairs in particular and helps them analyze their performance. The launch was followed by a panel discussion which was moderated by Manoj Ladwa, one of the authors of the book. The panelists included Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Head of BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department and one of the editors of the book, industrialist Shishir Bajoria and Rahul Roy-Chaudhry, Senior Fellow for South Asia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. The panelists unanimously agreed that India is on its path to become ‘diplomatic superpower’ under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. The audience comprised of members from the Indian Diaspora, university students, civil society members, officials from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (Government of UK), media persons, industrialists & businessmen and members of the Indian Foreign Service.

Talking about the relevance and need of the book Dr. Chauthaiwale said, “Each of the chapters are written by experts and analysts in their field who come from different parts of the world, which brings enormous credibility and impartiality to the book. What stands out is the people-centric approach to foreign policy under PM Modi.”

‘The Modi Doctrine: New Paradigms in India’s Foreign Policy’ was officially launched in New Delhi, India earlier this year in August by Honourable External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj in the presence of Rt. Hon. Priti Patel, MP and Secretary of State for International Development, Government of UK. The book is edited by Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Director, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Head of BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department and Dr. Uttam Kumar Sinha, Fellow, Institute of Defense Studies & Analysis.
